Endowing the Future

Lambuth Memorial Endowment Fund

The gift that keeps on giving

What is the Endowment Fund?

A special fund setup to receive bequests and other gifts to Lambuth Memorial and then to place these funds in low-risk investments that return revenue to the Fund. Our current investments are with Nashville Area United Methodist Foundation.

The idea is to never spend the principal, only the interest. These endowments will provide additional resources for the continued development of the ministry and mission of Lambuth Memorial.

For no one can lay any foundation
other than the one already laid,
which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:11

Five Reasons To Make An Endowment Gift

1. Durability   Only the income or a percentage of the value will be used to support the chosen ministry.
2. A Positive Legacy Create an enduring legacy that will outlive you and influence succeeding generations. Endowment funds can also be used to honor the lives of others who have made a significant impact on you and/or the church.
3. Perpetuate Gifts   It’s a great way to “leave your mark” and strengthen the church or a specific area of ministry.
4. A Firm Foundation   Annual payouts from endowment funds permit our church to plan more confidently for the future. A church or ministry with a strong endowment is simply more stable financially.
5. Personal Satisfaction There is something wonderfully fulfilling about doing something good that lasts, something that really makes a difference. Other kinds of giving are important, but creating or adding to a fund that will benefit others for centuries is truly satisfying.

The most common donations are outright gifts, such as cash or a check, which we receive right away.  But many times, people want to hold on to their money and other assets for now, just to be sure they can meet their family’s future financial needs.  These people are usually delighted to learn that we have excellent alternatives, which allow them to still make a gift.  Some of those options are:
  • Living trust
  • Bequest in a will
  • Life insurance gift
  • Retirement plan gift
  • Real estate gift
  • Charitable remainder annuity trust
  • Charitable remainder unitrust
  • Charitable gift annuity
  • Charitable lead trust
Wisely planned gifts can produce tax savings and estate protection.
